An Authentic, Powerful Life

An Authentic, Powerful Life

Real power comes from confronting the challenges each woman faces and passing on hard-won wisdom. This article starts that conversation.

Charting my own path has been a challenge, just as it is for women everywhere. We all struggle with the same questions: Am I entitled to write and live my own legacy beyond my roles as daughter, wife, mother, sister, employee, friend? Am I worth it? The answer has to be yes. At each challenge, we have to give ourselves permission to grow, evolve and change. I now have a new definition of power. It’s passing on what we have learned and creating meaningful change through these experiences. That’s the kind of power that truly matters.

The questions: answered by the Entreprenurial Mother…

My goodness; there’s a whole book waiting to be written right there in your questions!!
Nevertheless I can send you to a number of places to get great information to assist you on your way.

Based on your questions, I think it would be worth you buying “Secrets of Inspiring Women Exposed“. I’m sure many of the stories, mine included, will assist your thinking.

I would also recommend that you visit www.theentrepreneurialmother.com.au
There are is much to read and tools to use.
I would also suggest you read and subscribe to the blog
www.theentrepreneurialmother.com.au/blog as there is always content being
added pertinent to your line of questioning.

1. Did you find yourself having to work another job in the early days?
I HAVE ALWAYS DONE MY OWN CONSULTING WORK, AND WHEN I STARTED aCE talentNET, IT WAS NO DIFFERENT. IN FACT, I STILL DO SOME TODAY.

How long did it take to build your business up to full-time?
THIS IS A CATCH 22 REALLY. IF YOU DON’T PUT IN THE HOURS, IT WILL TAKE A LOT LONGER. IF YOU CAN’T AFFORD TO DO SO THEN IT WILL TAKE LONGER THAN YOU THINK. IT PROBABLY TOOK ME A COUPLE OF YEARS.

2. What are some of your favourite business/motivational books (if you are into them)?
IN THE BOOK, I HAVE LISTED THE FOLLOWING:
“Being the insatiable reader that I am, and having the library of books that I do, choosing only five is very difficult.
. The Power of One – Bryce Courtney
. Emotional Capitalists – Dr Martyn Newman
. If you want to be Rich and Happy, Don’t go to School – Robert Kiyosaki
. Re-imagine! and The Essentials – Tom Peters
. Free Agent Nation – Daniel Pink”

3. What is the best advice you can give in respect to managing cash flow (think back to your early days)?
READ ROBERT KIYOSAKI’S “GUIDE TO INVESTING”, MOST PARTICULARLY PART THREE (p237)… EXCELLENT PLACE TO START.

4. Can you provide me with your thoughts on the Radiance concept and our website www.radiancebytina.com
WEB SITE IS GREAT… YOUR OFFERING REMINDS ME OF A WORKSHOP I USED TO RUN FOR AUSTRALIS CALLED “SELF MADE GIRL”… (I’M SURE IF YOU GOOGLED IT, THERE WOULD STILL BE INFORMATION AROUND)…

I AM A LITTLE CONFUSED AS TO WHO YOUR AUDIENCE IS, IE THE DEMOGRAPHIC OF YOUR CLIENTS. MAYBE IT NEEDS TO BE IN TWO PARTS, IE ONE FOR STUDENTS AND ONE FOR OTHERS… AND MAKE THE STUDENT ONE REALLY FUNKY, WITH VIDEO ETC ETC, AND THE ONE FOR OTHERS COULD STAY AS IS… THAT WAY YOU WOULD HAVE A DIFFERENCE
MARKETING PLAN FOR EACH AND HANDLE ACCORDINGLY.

5. Where do you see my opportunities for growth with Radiance?
NOT REALLY SURE AS ITS NOT MY FIELD… BUT I WOULD BE ALIGNING RADIANCE WITH ESTABLISHED BEAUTY SERVICE PROVIDERS, WORKING OUT MUTUALLY SATISFACTORY RELATIONSHIPS.
WRITE YOUR OWN BOOK, A HANDBOOK FOR STUDENTS PERHAPS…DO YOU OWN “SECRETS OF…” BOOK BUT WITH STUDENTS AND THEIR BEAUTY EXPERIENCES/TIPS….TYING IN A ‘FREE ASSESSMENT’ WITH A PURCHASE OF THE BOOK, THEN SELL PRODUCT, MORE WORKSHOPS.
RUN COMPETITIONS FOR SCHOOLS.

6. Your best marketing/sales strategy ever?
READ THE TOM PETERS BOOKS MENTIONED ABOVE.

I think that is enough for now.

Really keen to hear your thoughts and thanking you in advance for your time.

ChangeThis_UnwealthyHabits

A serial entrepreneur and wealth consultant, Alicia Castillo Holley, breaks down the negative habits that prevent us from gaining wealth. Written to address many individual viewpoints, she offers insight into how we can break those habits by first identifying them and then defying them.

Recognise these habits? Something you do yourself?
Time to have a good hard look at them if your dreams are to become realities…

PartTime

Stephen Lunn reports: WOMEN who return to work part-time after having children have more difficulty juggling career and family than mothers in full-time jobs.

“It is a double whammy for part-time working women – their jobs aren’t the best career option and more is expected of them on the home front,” said Barbara Pocock, head of the Centre for Work + Life at the University of South Australia.

Professor Pocock conducted in March the first national survey of work-life outcomes, called Work, Life and Time, polling 1435 male and female Australians.

The results, to be released yesterday, “confirm that long work hours have a negative effect both on the individual in terms of health and in the broader context of friendships and community involvement”.

No surprise in any of this really. Entrepreneurial Mothers have known for a long time that “part-time” does not address the issues that it is sort out to do. Which is why many of us set up the way we want to work, and usually that means doing our own thing. Whilst it may add more pressure initially, that pressure can still be controlled as it is you that is driving it… unless of course you have an “overnight success” and control is lost, but that doesn’t really happen; does it?

RepublicaOrganic

It is possible to successfully combine business with humanitarian values, Fran Molloy writes.

JACQUELINE Arias sold her first bag of fair trade coffee a year ago; she’s now projecting that her turnover next financial year will be over $3 million.

And while the rapid growth of her Republica Coffee business is striking, it’s the motivation behind Aria’s astounding success that is most inspiring: she insisted that her businessmodel be ethical.

“My ethics are paramount to me. When I discovered fair trade, I realised that it made absolute sense. I knew Australians, who are so egalitarian, would just fall in love with the concept of fair trade.”

Can you make your business model ethical?…
