CASE STUDY: From $6 to $5668 per qtr in GST in just 3 years…

Who would think it is pleasing to use Tax as a Growth Indicator?
This story from one of my charges (Julie Demczuk of www.exclusivepmg.com.au) just this week, got to love a share such as this:

I’m sitting in my office on my own thinking about when I first started the business.

I remember saying to my bookkeeper I can’t wait until I start paying GST.  I was so excited when my first GST bill was $6.

After three  years my GST bill for the last quarter is $5,668.
What an amazing difference.

What an amazing difference indeed! Whilst I haven’t contributed directly to her growth numbers, she is one the amazing number of Women Business Owners who are building their business as an asset, ready to be saleable when the time comes  (which may be right round the corner!)
So very proud of this entrepreneurial mother.

Just think how well off the new owner of a business like this will be. Not only is the thing well-established, if $5000+ of GST is being paid quarterly, then the revenue has to reflect same. Much more palatable when compared to waiting for revenue as a start-up… Interested in knowing more? Please drop me a line at info@theentrepreneurialmother.com.au

Some would say “why?”, others, “why not?”

Some are born to start, build and hold for as long as it takes.
Some are born to start, build and pass the baton on.

Which one are you?

the result of the latest “how to successfully buy a business” workshop…

"matching Buyers and Sellers"

“matching Buyers and Sellers”

Today, we ran another of our “How to Successfully Buy a Business” roundtable workshops. What a pleasure it was!

The points covered:

  • is Business Ownership for you?
  • how do you know?
  • what type of business?
  • starting vs buying
  • overview of the Business Transaction process
  • price vs valuation
  • using professional advisors

Not only did we do a great job (even if I say so myself) but the conversation around the topic was also of a high standard. With a mix of first-time buyers, accountants, financial planners and bankers in the room, it made for not only an enjoyable session, but one where the level of awareness has now increased significantly.

The key now is to assist them in executing on what they now know…

Some of the feedback:

“Would you refer this workshop to your friends and family?” all answered YES

“Really good presentation”
“Good mix in audience”
“Really good workshop”

Got to love that kind of feedback!

to Buy or Not to Buy, is timing the question?

To_Buy_or_Not_to_Buy

Navigating our first acquisition was terrifying and thrilling, all at the same time. It taught us that you’re never too small to take advantage of opportunities that will benefit your business. For other startups and companies (of any size), here are a few lessons we learned along the way.

Read on…

Buying a business is not as scary as one may think.
Especially if you’ve got someone in your corner, like the likes of myself for example.

That said, regardless of how it happens, buying a business is the quickest way to growth.
The upward impact it has on the numbers, in a very short period of time, cannot be done any other way, especially if you’ve bought the support that comes with it.

Seriously, given our employment rates are rising, buying a business may end up being one of the only ways to generate revenue and stay in your market of choice…

Continuing to spend much of this week working on one particular sale and exploring the sale option with a number of Business Owners keen to chat.

The discussion about what constitutes an Online Business is one I am continually having at the moment . Just because a Business Owner calls it so doesn’t mean others agree. What’s happened with the few I’ve spoken to this week, the business definitely has an online frontend but the backend is still being fulfilled manually, either by the owner or a contractor.

So, is that an Online Business or not?
Really?
