“THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking the time to answer my questions says Tina.

I have read a couple of the ‘Secrets of’ books, but will also grab the new one. I will order the books you mentioned, so if you do have some others you rate highly would love to hear about it. You can never have enough books I say!

You’re a smart lady and I would love if we could stay in touch (I promise I won’t stalk you! Ha ha). That coffee would be great some time too.”

The questions: answered by the Entreprenurial Mother…

My goodness; there’s a whole book waiting to be written right there in your questions!!
Nevertheless I can send you to a number of places to get great information to assist you on your way.

Based on your questions, I think it would be worth you buying “Secrets of Inspiring Women Exposed“. I’m sure many of the stories, mine included, will assist your thinking.

I would also recommend that you visit www.theentrepreneurialmother.com.au
There are is much to read and tools to use.
I would also suggest you read and subscribe to the blog
www.theentrepreneurialmother.com.au/blog as there is always content being
added pertinent to your line of questioning.

1. Did you find yourself having to work another job in the early days?
I HAVE ALWAYS DONE MY OWN CONSULTING WORK, AND WHEN I STARTED aCE talentNET, IT WAS NO DIFFERENT. IN FACT, I STILL DO SOME TODAY.

How long did it take to build your business up to full-time?
THIS IS A CATCH 22 REALLY. IF YOU DON’T PUT IN THE HOURS, IT WILL TAKE A LOT LONGER. IF YOU CAN’T AFFORD TO DO SO THEN IT WILL TAKE LONGER THAN YOU THINK. IT PROBABLY TOOK ME A COUPLE OF YEARS.

2. What are some of your favourite business/motivational books (if you are into them)?
IN THE BOOK, I HAVE LISTED THE FOLLOWING:
“Being the insatiable reader that I am, and having the library of books that I do, choosing only five is very difficult.
. The Power of One – Bryce Courtney
. Emotional Capitalists – Dr Martyn Newman
. If you want to be Rich and Happy, Don’t go to School – Robert Kiyosaki
. Re-imagine! and The Essentials – Tom Peters
. Free Agent Nation – Daniel Pink”

3. What is the best advice you can give in respect to managing cash flow (think back to your early days)?
READ ROBERT KIYOSAKI’S “GUIDE TO INVESTING”, MOST PARTICULARLY PART THREE (p237)… EXCELLENT PLACE TO START.

4. Can you provide me with your thoughts on the Radiance concept and our website www.radiancebytina.com
WEB SITE IS GREAT… YOUR OFFERING REMINDS ME OF A WORKSHOP I USED TO RUN FOR AUSTRALIS CALLED “SELF MADE GIRL”… (I’M SURE IF YOU GOOGLED IT, THERE WOULD STILL BE INFORMATION AROUND)…

I AM A LITTLE CONFUSED AS TO WHO YOUR AUDIENCE IS, IE THE DEMOGRAPHIC OF YOUR CLIENTS. MAYBE IT NEEDS TO BE IN TWO PARTS, IE ONE FOR STUDENTS AND ONE FOR OTHERS… AND MAKE THE STUDENT ONE REALLY FUNKY, WITH VIDEO ETC ETC, AND THE ONE FOR OTHERS COULD STAY AS IS… THAT WAY YOU WOULD HAVE A DIFFERENCE
MARKETING PLAN FOR EACH AND HANDLE ACCORDINGLY.

5. Where do you see my opportunities for growth with Radiance?
NOT REALLY SURE AS ITS NOT MY FIELD… BUT I WOULD BE ALIGNING RADIANCE WITH ESTABLISHED BEAUTY SERVICE PROVIDERS, WORKING OUT MUTUALLY SATISFACTORY RELATIONSHIPS.
WRITE YOUR OWN BOOK, A HANDBOOK FOR STUDENTS PERHAPS…DO YOU OWN “SECRETS OF…” BOOK BUT WITH STUDENTS AND THEIR BEAUTY EXPERIENCES/TIPS….TYING IN A ‘FREE ASSESSMENT’ WITH A PURCHASE OF THE BOOK, THEN SELL PRODUCT, MORE WORKSHOPS.
RUN COMPETITIONS FOR SCHOOLS.

6. Your best marketing/sales strategy ever?
READ THE TOM PETERS BOOKS MENTIONED ABOVE.

I think that is enough for now.

Really keen to hear your thoughts and thanking you in advance for your time.

The Single Greatest Marketing Tool

It’s called public relations. Here’s how to get the most out of it.
By Lisa LaMotta

Any entrepreneur can run a snazzy advertising campaign, if he or she is willing to pay for it. The trick is to get that kind of exposure without breaking the bank.

Such is the allure of “public relations”–the discipline of shedding a benevolent light on a person, company or cause, mainly by tapping the news media. The press is a powerful force: Clearly, Amazon.com and Google offer great services, but appearing in some 13,000 news articles around the world in the last 30 days helps get the word out too. And depending on the outlet and nature of the story, PR offers a potentially huge benefit that advertising does not: third-party approval.

Read all about it, or better still, see the summary in pictures!

What great, and cost effective, PR tips do you have?

Unearth Growth by Digging in the Dirt

Unearth Growth by Digging in the Dirt

Everything you need to know about innovation is growing (and dying) in a garden near you.

There is an element of business, which, as far as I know, has never been written about. Business is like gardening. That’s right; growing a business is like growing a tree. I know this sounds flaky, and I’ve probably lost many of you at this point, but for those of you that remain, consider this: most metaphors about business are about sport or war. This is useful, but the fatal floor in these analogies is that both have an end point in the immediate future. Moreover, the objective of both is to defeat a clearly defined enemy. Aims and outcomes are always fairly clear.

But business isn’t like that and neither is gardening…

springwise

Springwise.com has uncovered another from their daily fix of entrepreneurial ideas…

Zlio — the ‘social commerce network’ that lets anyone set up their own web shop in a matter of minutes — just ranked in USD 4 million in funding from Mangrove Capital Partners, an early investor in Skype. So what have they been up to since featured in February? Two milestones were recently reached: 100,000 shops (from 35,000 in February) and 2.5 million visitors per month.

Shopbuilders now have over 3 million products to choose from, with sales handled by partners like Barnes & Nobles, which recently signed up as a merchant. Participating minipreneurs are earning up to USD 750 per month in commissions, by carefully selecting products, tweaking their shop’s design and promoting it everywhere they can. Shops focus on niches from Birkenstocks to Great British TV, and Gifts Under $20 to Everything Elvis.

Some users have started operating multiple boutiques, cross-promoting and buying AdWords to drive traffic to their ZlioShops. Bloggers place widgets on their websites featuring products that appeal to their audience. As explained by a shopkeeper who blogs about mediaeval re-enactments: “Instead of being an affiliate marketer for 15 different sites, and having multiple competing ad blocks on my page, I can just select the products I want to promote regardless of the store of origin. Saves me lots of time in signing up, getting approved and designing ads from the many different websites offering affiliate marketing programs.”

As both merchants and consumers become more familiar with this type of commerce, there’s room for other players in this field, especially in countries that aren’t yet covered by Zlio — Asian and South-American contenders to follow soon?

From Mayblooms to Hawks

(Launceston Examiner)

HAWTHORN supporters have a lot to thank Patricia Whitecross for. Were it not for the softly spoken octogenarian, brown-and-gold clad fans at Saturday’s elimination final against Adelaide would be voicing their support of a mighty army of men called … the Mayblooms.

Whitecross is the only surviving child of another Australian footy phenomenon that made a home in Tasmania — Roy Cazaly.

And it was while her father was coaching the club during World War II that she made a contribution which continues to have an impact on supporters and headline-writers alike.

And as most entrepreneurial mothers go about doing their thing… rather quietly and very effectively! Go Patricia!!
