Thank you so much for all the information. I agree with you that experience is the essential thing at the moment, so I am going to complete a certificate 4 in training and get straight into the work force. You really helped clear up the point about continuing with further studying after gaining the experience, so that is what I will do.
I will definitely look into the links you sent and have already contacted the AITD for some information.
Lastly, of course you may add my e-mail and your response to the blog. Your input has been of real guidance to me and I THANK YOU so much. I will let you know of my progress if that is ok with you.

having given this some thought, here’s what I suggest….
You already have one degree so I don’t think you really need another to commence your career pathway. You would be better off to get some ‘experience’, and runs on the board, in a workplace and go from there. You could always study part-time to pursue other qualifications and if you pick the right employer, they will probably pay for it too!
Given the current talent shortage you shouldn’t have a problem getting a junior role that will give you a foothold into HR/L&D/OD etc.
If you did want to go down the studying path…
yes, there is the bachelor of training and development or from memory, there is a Masters of Organisational Development (or something like that) at RMIT. You could even look at being an Organisational Psych if that was of interest
Also investigate some of the associations for further information…
AITD = the Australian Institute of Training and Development
AHRI = the Australian Human Resources Institute
ODA = Organisational Development Australia
and for a job, I would have a look at http://www.jobsinhr.com.au/ to get a handle on what’s available etc, as well as going to SEEK etc.

Your story is truly inspiring and I am hoping you can provide me with some advice. I just completed my Bachelor of Behavioural Neuroscience degree (Honours, Monash University) last year and am currently working as a researcher. However, I have a burning passion for the field of self and organizational development and finally made the decision to pursue a career in this field.
I just learnt of the Bachelor of training and development course offered at Melbourne Uni, and see that you have completed that too. Would you recommend this to be a good starting point for me in pursing this career pathway or can you see anyway other way that I can enter into the work force directly and use external training programs to help guide me along?
I can only imagine how busy you must be so any information you can provide me with would be much appreciated. Reading about role models like you has opened my eyes to the unlimited potential within all of us and the power to create life as we want it to be.
